Cage arrived in bent boxes - very badly damaged. Had to return and now they are out of stock so I can’t order another. Great return help from the local Petco manager though so that was fantastic as the cage is over 250 lbs!

We purchased the A&E Play Top Cage for our adopted blue and gold macaw (JoJo) because of the size, online reviews and cost. If you are looking for a larger cage you already know how expensive they can be and so the following is our honest review of this product: SIZE This is a very big and heavy cage! The A&E website provides exterior dimensions (48"w 36"d x 76"h). We could not find the interior dimensions but the main cage is 47-72"w x 35-1/4"d x 47"h. I think the dimensions provided are a little misleading, but not too bad. ASSEMBLY Plan on 2 hours to unpack and assemble the cage. Probably 1 hour if the instructions were better. That is one reason why I could not give a 5 star review, but I am happy. The cage comes in 3 boxes wrapped tightly on the 2 pallets. Plan on having to deal with the pallets and lots of plastic wrap and cardboard. DAMAGE The top rails on the front and rear panel are damaged (bent) but I've not tried to straight them yet. I'm afraid the welds or powder coating at the ends will break or come off if forced back into place. A couple of spacers would prevent this damage but overall it is boxed correctly. The damage was the other reason for the 4 star review. SLIDE OUT TRAYS The slide out trays (top and bottom) are very large and can be awkward for one person to handle. The trays are 35" x 47-1/4" and is much easier for 2 people to handle. We will not use the top tray as there is no grill to keep JoJo from destroying the paper in the tray, so we'll just leave it out and deal with any mess that may fall! ACCESSORIES The 1" perch is too small for a larger bird which is what this cage is built for. A 2" or even a 3" perch would have been better, and it would have been nice if they would provide two perches instead of just the one. The stainless feeder cups are great and the access doors that allow you to fill the cups are very nice. The locks and latches are very nice and will help if you have an escape artist. PRICE You will find a big range of prices on the internet. The lowest price is $799, but with the 20% off coupon we paid $660 with tax. I highly recommend this cage.
