Easy-to-use fish destressor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This API stress coat is an easy-to-use product that helps to replenish the slime coat on fish. We have been using it in my son's fish tank with every water change. The fish appear less stressed when this product is used and swim slower around the tank. This item was sent to me in exchange for my honest review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love using this product. It helps with calming the fish while cleaning the fish tank. It’s orderless and works very well. It also helps with the PH of the tank

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Stress coat is one of my favorite things to get my beta fish as they are very easily stressed after a water change. The cap makes it easier to measure out exactly what I need

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using API products in my turtle tanks for years. The Stress Coat+ removes all the not so great for turtles stuff they put in the water to help keep them happy and healthy. Shelly (pictured here not wanting to be photographed) seems much happier when she has clean and clear water so that's why I use API.

Remove the stress from your fish and for you

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] API Stress coat is a great aquarium additive to help keep your water levels healthy for your fish. Stress coat is perfect for when starting a new aquarium, after water changes, and post large cleaning efforts. Testing your water is impotent and Stress Coat can get you back on track quickly when you find something is off. The name is perfect as it removes stress from the water for your fish and gives you peace of mind when it comes to maintaining water. It’s a great value as it is affordable, works better than other options, a f last a long time because a little goes a long way.

Questions

1 - 10 of 36 Questions

Can I Use with purigen

  1. Yes, you may use API Stress Coat with Purigen.

Can I use this in addition to the beta water conditioner when I do a water change or would it be too much to use the tress coat additive on top of the beta water conditioner? Should it be one or the other or can I use both?

  1. I actually use both. We have softened water here and I don't want it to effect fish. I also want to calm my fish with the stress coat. Not sure if it's the correct thing to do or not. I just go with my gut.

Can you use this with fish you intend to eat?

  1. Designed to treat water. Shouldn't affect fish other than make water safe for fish.

will this hurt my amano shrimp?

  1. It is safe for shrimp. My amano and ghost shrimps do just fine.

During a water change, should I calculate the Stress Coat dosage based on new water added, or based on the entire tank volume? Thanks, Charlotte

  1. I calculate the dosage based on my total tank volume. You can't really overdo it, and it calms the fish after a water change.

Would this be ok to use in a community tank with shrimps in it? Thanks!

  1. Yes, it should be. All it does is reinforce the natural outer layer of protective mucous that fish and other marine life have on them to repel parasites. I don't think it will harm the shrimp. I have three blue Nerite snails in my tank and they've been there for years, dutifully cleaning the tank, and have never been bothered by it.

Can I use this for a hermit crab?

What pH will the water be if I add enough for a 5 gallon tank

    1. Should not change the ph of your water. Only removes or neutralizes chlorine.

can i use quick start and stress coast at the same time when i change water? how much do i need?

    1. You don't need to use quick start when you use stress coat. The measurement is on the bottle.

I have a 5 gallon tank with one betta fish. We use well water, so how much stress coat would I use to condition the water? Would I use 1 teaspoon in total to condition and remove stress from my fish?
