Rabbitfish are a favorite among aquarists because they can coexist with both peaceful and aggressive tank mates-their venomous dorsal spines discourage others from bothering them. They are generally peaceful but may become territorial toward other rabbitfish. Provide a large tank with plenty of swimming space and live rock covered in algae for grazing. The Blue Spotted Spinefoot Rabbitfish is considered reef safe with caution, as it may nip at corals, especially when hungry or if the corals are unhealthy. To prevent this, feed a varied diet including both meaty and vegetable-based foods. Use extreme caution when working in the aquarium, as its venomous dorsal spines can inflict a painful sting. This rabbitfish can reach up to 8" and requires around 120 gallons as an adult, though juveniles can thrive in smaller aquariums. It features a bright yellow body, blue markings on its head and back, and facial patterns. Found in the Indo-Pacific, it typically inhabits inshore reefs in pairs.
