My Sushi girl had an allergic reaction that triggered ITP. We tried HP by RC and it didnt seem to help much. My friend recommended this diet and I could not be happier with the results. She hardly scratches anymore which gives me less ITP scares. Plus she chows down immediately so she also likes it

Hills seems in denial of all these reviews documenting the change in consistency of the product.. sticky hard to administer hard to eat not sure why hills did this change but shows someone in company is engaged in a cover up of the huge mistake

Thank you for reaching out to us. The Hill's Prescription Diet Derm Complete Wet Food has not had a formula update since its release in 2021.While it is difficult to tell the exact cause for this change in texture, we can assure you that this variation has no impact on the nutritional value of the food. Some possible causes of the variation are the freshness of the product or temperatures the food has been exposed to during distribution. A freshly produced product can appear softer or stickier and will generally increase in firmness as it ages. Some formulas with higher starch levels, can take longer for the starch to regenerate into a firmer loaf (i.e., Derm Complete, Canine z/d Canned). Just to reassure you, all feedback and reviews from all of our platforms are shared with our quality team and entered into a database that is regularly monitored for any recurring issues.

Great for our dog, but terrible new texture

We have been using both the kibble and canned versions of Derm Complete for our dog for almost two years now, and she does great on it. However, I have to agree with all the recent reviews that the change in consistency of the canned food is a significant downgrade. It's very sticky and nearly impossible to get off the spoon, which means it's also hard for the dog to get out of her bowl. And I find it highly concerning that the company's responses to these reviews is to insist that nothing has changed, when we all seem to be having a uniform (and uniformly bad) new experience.

AWFUL NEW CONSISTENCY

You changed the consistency of this canned food and it is AWFUL…gummy…can’t get it off the spoon, can has ridges so you lose a lot of it in the ridges, just awful to manage and use. Bring back the old formula where the food stuck to itself and not everything else. In terms of physics, you changed it so the force of adhesion is stronger than the force of cohesion, which is opposite of what it used to be.

Thank you for reaching out. We are disappointed to hear of your experience. Please know, we have not recently changed the formulation of this product. While it is difficult to tell the exact cause for this change in texture, we can assure you that this variation has no impact on the nutritional value of the food. Some possible causes of the variation are the freshness of the product or temperatures the food has been exposed to during distribution. A freshly produced product can appear softer or stickier and will generally increase in firmness as it ages. Some formulas with higher starch levels, can take longer for the starch to regenerate into a firmer loaf. Some products may experience textural changes upon large temperature fluctuations. High temperatures won't allow the starches to re-associate which leaves the product sticky. All of our products are 100% satisfaction guaranteed. If you would like to take advantage of this guarantee, please return the unused portion of the product to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange.

Change in texture

The wet food has changed in texture for the worse. It used to be in a loaf and now it is a sticky mush. How could it be that you have no idea why the texture has changed?

What changed?

This food was such a blessing when we started our dog on it over a year ago. We never had any issues getting her to eat it. The two most recent bags she won’t eat it unless we top it with some freeze dried salmon. Something had to change?

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to hear that we no longer have your dogs taste of approval. Hill's Prescription Diet Derm Complete Rice & Egg Recipe Dog Food has not had a recent formula change. Instead, feed a small spoon of this same canned food over the dry. We offer a 100% guarantee on our products, please contact the place you purchased for a refund or exchange.

Canned Food mushy!!

What changed with this canned food. It is mushy and hard to get out of the can. It’s sticky and won’t blend with kibble. Previously the food was drier and you could flake it with a fork. This is horrible!!! picture of original canned food and picture of mushy food….
