Too small for a Betta

FishMomma

Bettas require at least a 5 gallon tank with filter and heater and live plants. This would be a good shrimp tank.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Perfect starter kit, shape is a little distorting

Xena

Received this as a gift. It has almost everything you need to get started. My betta seems happy in it though I will eventually upgrade to a larger tank for him. Plus I am not in love with the cylindrical shape because it does distort the view a bit and makes it hard to see a lot at once like you would with a comparably sized rectangular tank. Things you need to purchase separately: substrate (gravel/sand), plants (preferably live), decor, a 15W heater (Bettas like it warm), thermometer, and air pump + air stone/bubbler. Don't forget to condition the water first and ideally let it cycle for a few weeks so beneficial bacteria can build up. You don't want to shock your fishy pal as soon as you introduce it! We keep this on the kitchen counter and our Betta seems very curious and interactive, so I'd say he likes watching us through it as much as we enjoy watching him!

Yes, I recommend this product.

My Betta Died :-(

While the tank was beautiful my single betta fish only lasted 2.5 weeks & then it died. I’m going to get a 4 gallon tank that comes with a heater & try again.

Yes, I recommend this product.

A great non leaking aquarium

Because it is plastic, it won't leak like the glass one and the filter is quiet. Don't put more than 4 fish in. I used a permanent light blue marker on the lights because the white was too bright when on. The light blue is great.

Yes, I recommend this product.

The pump could not keep the tank clean. I only have one betta fish and found the tank smelly and so cloudy after only two days. I would give this product a 0 if that was an option

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 13 Questions

How does the filter work? How do I know if it’s on?

Do I need a heater for my betta fish in this tank?

    1. Hi, While the Imagitarium Plastic Cylinder Betta Aquarium includes an internal power filter and LED lighting, it does not come with a heater. Since bettas are tropical fish that require stable water temperatures between 78°F and 80°F, a small submersible heater is strongly recommended to prevent lethargy and illness. For this 2.5-gallon plastic tank, a low-wattage heater (7.5W to 15W) specifically designed for small volumes is ideal. Thanks.

What is the link to buy a new filter?

    1. Hi, The recommended replacement filter for the Imagitarium Plastic Cylinder Betta Aquarium is the Imagitarium Replacement Coconut Carbon Filter Cartridge M (SKU :- 3865755), designed for the integrated power filter in the 2.5-gallon tank. Thanks.

Is there a stronger filter compatible with this tank? I can’t get past 10 days without the tank looking like it needs a water change and new filter cartridge. I only have 1 betta.

    1. Hi, To enhance the water quality of your Imagitarium Plastic Cylinder Betta Aquarium, we recommend upgrading to a gentle internal sponge filter or an adjustable mini power filter for superior biological filtration. These options maintain a healthy environment while keeping the water calm for your betta. For the best results, pair your new filter with Imagitarium Water Conditioner and perform small, weekly water changes to ensure a vibrant, clear habitat. Thanks.

I purchased my aquarium and it came with nothing to connect the LEDs to, what can I do?

    1. I purchased the same aquarium, and it came with a cable to connect the LEDs. Since, yours did not, you may contact their customer service at 888-824-7257 or customerrelations@petco.com

I just set up the tank today and am letting it cycle before putting our fish in. Water is streaming out of the filter, but the entire filter chamber is full of water. Is this how it should look? It is quite different from our filter on our current tank.

    1. Hi, We can confirm that it is normal for the filter chamber to be completely full of water. The filter is a submersible design that draws water into the chamber for filtering. The stream of water you see indicates it is working correctly to circulate and filter the water. Thanks.

How do I know the filter is working properly? I can feel it making a slight humming sound. But no water is coming out of the opening? Just barely set it up tonight to let it run for 24 hrs before replacing my beta fish.

    1. Hi Valued Guest, Good day! It should work properly once set up and fully primed with water. Thanks

Are there replacement lights? 2 of the 3 lights have stopped working.

    1. Hi DeannDubis, Good day! Unfortunately, we do not have replacement lights for sale. This will be evaluated. Thanks,

Hello! The internal power filter doesn't seem to be filtering properly. Can I purchase one without the tank?

    1. Hi TETE22, Good day! Unfortunately, there is no option for that. We suggest that you check our return policy at https://www.petco.com/returns. Thanks,

How do I know if the filter is working or if I have to buy a new one? I don't have the directions anymore, and although I feel the tank slightly vibrate, I don't see the filter constantly flowing filtered water through the opening.

    1. Hi steph_29, Good day! Filters should be replaced every 2-4 weeks for optimal results. For more care information on Betta fish please see: https://www.petco.com/content/petco/PetcoStore/en_US/pet-services/resource-center/caresheets/betta.html#habitat-setup. Thanks
