These air stones are (ok) just wish it would have been a finer bubble shower, good for 15 gallon tank or larger, causing too much turbulence in my 5 gallon tank.

Bubbles galore!
These are great inexpensive airstones. They put out a lot of air! I am using just one for a ten gallon tank and it is quite sufficient. When the room is quiet, it sounds like it is raining outside. Soothing actually. The bubble size isn't really tiny, it's maybe 1/8". If you want the very fine bubble stream you probably want to get the kind of stones that are white which give off really tiny bubbles.

Is this strong and over powering or is it pretty gentle
- The stone is in a plastic tube not directly with the rest of the tank. Its not strong and overpowering because its in the tube. The water level in tank has to be above the plastic column to bubble and keep lid on when running the air stone. Its a nice effect in the tank. My fish will go to top to check out the bubbles when turning it on.

Do I need airline tubing or a pump, or can I just plop it in and it will bubble?
- You need air line and a bubble pump place the air line form the bubble Pump to the bubbler Then place in water and turn on
