I got it with a coupon, so it was ok-ish. I needed a specific size and shape for my shelf, so I was limited on options. First of all, if you are concerned about animals that will crawl or jump, this is not the tank for you. The cover does not cover the entire tank. The filter you will likely need to buy cut to size media online like on Amazon in order to replace anything when it is time. It surprisingly doesn't do too bad for its small size however. I have a betta and some ghost shrimp and I am meticulous about water changes and condition, so it has been fine for me. I added a heater and air stone as well as live plants which helps. There is no such thing as a totally maintenance free tank. You WILL have to do water changes and substrate cleaning in most tanks. How frequently really depends on what is in it and if you're overfeeding. All that said, I find the cost of this tank pretty disappointing considering I can get an entire 20 gallon tank kit with heater and full lid hood for less at both Petco and other stores. But like I said, if you need something to fit a particular space or you like the rimless look, this does the trick.

Bought this tank several months ago. Pros- great size, love that it is a cube, lighting is great. Very pretty tank overall Cons- Filter is crap. I ended up buying a Fluval AquaClear that has helped tremendously. Like other people have stated the opening on the back is also horrible. I bought a small piece of clear acrylic and cut it down to size to attach it. So all in all, I have invested about another $50 to get it to where I want it. Would I buy another? Probably not. But I have room on my shelf beside this one for one more cube so if I can't find another, I may bite the bullet and buy the cheaper version that doesn't come with all the equipment if I can find the light for it. I am now concerned though that you cannot buy a replacement top if something happens to it. With some manufacturer improvements, it could be great!

Glass lid does not fully cover tank allowing for gap big enough for fish to jump out or snail friends to crawl out. The lid condensates from the inside when tank temp changes. Tank does not have a heater.

I've had this for about a month as an emergency purchase to rescue a betta. It's not perfect and of course I'm learning of upgrades, but I like the look of it, and it has worked fairly well. The light started flickering after a few weeks, so that's been the only thing not holding up. I have no experience with fish so can't compare to other tanks (I'm sure some are way better) but I like that this one isn't covered in black plastic.

Worst tank ever. They don’t make replacement lids for this one so good luck if it chips. I called corporate and the operator was no help. He said “did you try explaining this issue to the store?” — yeah at least 3 times now. The filter constantly breaks down. The small tiny filters for it are $10 for 2 and ALWAYS sold out.

Great tank but you cannot find filter replacement cartridges. Petco doesn't carry them they said they can't order them. How can you sell a $80 aquarium and not carry filter cartridges to be replaced. This leads to cloudy dirty tank. I also use live plants and never had this problem until I bought this tank setup.

I gave 4/5 stars because the filter is absolutely awful. I had to buy a new filter but the tank is beautiful. The lid design is kind of poor as well. If you’re not carful when taking it off you’ll drop it in the tank.

Bought this tank a month and a half ago, and it I entirely regret it. The filtration system is awful. Water was constantly cloudy, and the filter media was disgusting after hardly a month. This resulted in my fish becoming ill. I have had 5 gallon tanks that were cheaper, and of lesser quality that performed better than this tank. Please be careful, and think before you buy this tank, as you may be risking the health of your fish!
