This is not a consumable product but small shavings (no larger than a grain of rice) should pass through. However, a dog should not be able to break off large pieces of any Nylabone non-edible chew. No dog toy is totally indestructible. Frequently inspect your Nylabone before giving it to your dog to make sure it's whole and intact, with no missing pieces. Replace when the knuckles are worn down, or if it becomes too small for your dog to chew safely. Be sure to choose the right size and formulation for your dog's chewing style.

Nice bone
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog likes this okay. He will chew on it but it’s a little heavy. I can see it would be good for his teeth and good for boredom. It will keep him busy so he doesn’t chew on anything he’s not supposed to.

My baby absolutely loves his bones!

As an adult dog he still loves chewing on these! What it’s made from is super amazing with his chewing. Not too heavy and is super easy to put away.

Great durable bone
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a great product for a large dog. It lasted longer than any of the stuffy type of dog toys. The only drawback was that he did lose interest after 20 minutes, but he uses it about 3 to 4 times a week and it’s held up over a three week period. I trust this brand and would repurchase.

This is my first impression of the toy.
To be honest definitely get the size that is intended for your dog. The reason I say that is because the size will match how big your dog’s mouth is.So obviously you can see, my dog is not over 50 pounds but the last time we gave her a toy like this she was able to break it within the first five minutes. I thought by getting her a bigger toy, it would slow her down, but it led to another problem. The problem was the toy itself is so big that she was biting only on one corner over and over and over again, which caused her teeth to bleed a little bit, so of course, with that I had to take away the toy. She definitely really enjoyed the toy and I felt really bad throwing it away but out of safety reasons I wanted to take it away from her. Another thing I noticed is she kept chewing one corner which I think if she had it longer she would’ve been able to break it. She only had the toy for about 10 minutes and there were definitely teeth marks in the toy. I definitely would recommend you to watch your dog when they are playing with it because if they are an intense chewer I think they definitely could break the toy. To be honest no I wouldn’t recommend this toy only because I felt very nervous watching her play with it. If you still want this toy to try out I definitely would recommend you get the size that’s intended for your dog. Overall 3 out of 10.

Does nylabone have a no flavor. My Boston has allergies and dermatologist said no flavors.

Is original flavor beef?
- Thank you for your question. The original flavor is made with chicken. It does taste like chicken, however, it has a milder flavor when compared to the Chicken flavored bones.

When should you discard Nylabones ?
- I throw them away when the knuckles are chewed away and the bone's overall diameter is that of the shaft. I think the package used to suggest this as a safety measure.

Nylabone
- There are softer "gummy" bones called Flexibones (from the same company) that he may enjoy more. Or I would buy the puppy versions. The Nylabone is for hard chewers; your dog may be attracted to the smell.

Most reviews indicate Nylabones are indestructible, but are they safe?
- My brother has an Australian Shepherd and I have 3 rottweilers. We only use Nylabones now because they really are the toughest bones we can find! One of my rotties is older and has sensitive teeth but he will gnaw for hours. We just watch him and pull the bone away if we see blood (which has only happened once). I haven't noticed any fracturing of his teeth or problems with his jaw. The bones have been cleaning his teeth really well and strengthening his chewing capabilities if anything. If you are worried, I would monitor your mini Aussie's use and only let her have the bone for 1 hour increments.

Is it safe for my dog to digest origonal nylabones???? Very concerned
- Yes, to the degree that very small chips come off, they are safe. I have used them for decades.. When the nylabone becomes small enough to swallow, I would discard it. I stick with the largest nylabone that a dog can gnaw on COMFORTABLY. They are long-lasting, and well worth the price.

My dog loves the nylabone but will only chew on one end. Any suggestions on how to get him to chew the other side?
- I TURN IT AROUND AND HOLD THE CHEWED END. A LITTLE MESSY BUT I USE AN OLD SOCK TO SLIP END IN. WE BOND AND SHE TRUST. I ALSO CAN GET HER "BRAND NEW BONE HAPPY" BY PLAYING FETCH WITH IT. HAVE FUN. GETTING YOUR DOG TO RETRIV AND DROP IN YOUR HAND THEIR TREAT IS GREAT FOR KEEPING IN THEIR MINDS WHO'S ALPHA DOG. I HAVE DONE THIS WITH ALL MY TEA CUP POODLES SINCE OLD ENOUGH TO ENJOY THIS CHEWY TREAT. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE IT AWAY FOR A DAY OR SO AND THEN RETURN. NO BONES IN BETWEEN.
