Wanted same door for new house
I moved houses and had a door just like this. I wanted the same type of swinging doors instead of flaps so I got the exact model that I had before. My dogs were used to it and it is a very good quality door. The first one we had was mounted on an exterior door. The new one is mounted on an exterior wall, and leads right into the dog run. It can be locked with a key for security. I love this door.

Pricey but worth it
I bought the wall mount door. My handyman had a little difficulty installing the "tunnel" between the inside wall and outside siding, but otherwise installation seemed to go smoothly. My dogs, who had previously used a flap design door, were reluctant at first to use the new style door, but learned to use it in a day and have no problem going in/out at lightning speed. So far (I've had it about 6 weeks), it seems to be working great, and I'm anxious to see how it does in the winter. My only complaint is that I had to separately buy the attachment to slide the door to cover the opening when I do not want the dogs to go out. For the price, that should have been included.

- Here are the dimensions for the Large and X-Large PlexiDor Wall Unit dog doors: Large PlexiDor: Opening for dog = 11.75" wide x 16" high Dog door interior frame = 16 1/2" wide x 19 1/4" high Dog door exterior frame = 16 1/2" wide x 20 1/2" high X-Large PlexiDor: Opening for dog = 15 3/4" wide x 23 5/8" high Dog door interior frame = 20 1/2" wide x 26 3/4" high Dog door exterior frame = 21" wide x 28 7/8" high Note: The exterior frame is longer than the interior frame because the tunnel parts assemble with slope to the exterior for drainage. i am in a cold climate Minnesota. what kind of R value does this door have for the wintertime?
