This stuff is terrible. I purchased the premium version and it's no different from the standard version. Which isn't saying much as the standard is horrible as well. It leaves a ton of odor behind and clumps up terribly alongside you end up wasting a ton of it since it does t clump well.

I am beyond disappointed with this litter!! It gets mushy and crumbles when you try to scoop the pee pile which then continues to mix in with the clean litter so the box will not get even slightly clean after proper daily scooping. Another issue to note is the insane amount of dust that comes off the litter when pouring it out of the bag, scooping, or the cats burying their business. It is the most dust I’ve seen produced by cat litter.  I consistently used the So Phresh litter from the refill station inside Petco stores. I use this litter that is overly dusty, smells terrible, and doesn’t clump. People need to watch the YouTube video on cat litter and start buying a better brand. Sorry Petco but you keep changing things that do not need to change but it’s all about the money!

I just happened to have a container of this because someone was giving it away. When my new kitten refused to use the pine litter I'd used for 15 years on my kitty that passed, I remember I had this one. He absolutely loves it. Not sure why others are having trouble. This one clumps better than any I have ever used and lasts far longer too. Even though it reads, "Fragrance free," it still smells like it's fragranced to me, which is worrisome because I don't want fragrance. I have bought a new container since that first one and it works just as well. Wondering if it's the refills that people have issues with. It's really been great for us.

Absolute hate it. VERY VERY Dusty. It’s cheap for a reason.

I've been purchasing this litter for quite some time since it's nice to just bring it in and refill, save a little money and plastic waste. The last two times it has been scented and the dust is so bad that I have to use a vacuum above it when I pour to get some of the dust out. The room where the litter box in has tan litter dust on everything and I run a large HEPA filter by it. I was wondering why my cat smelled like flowers when she would lay by me. Dusty paw tracks on black surfaces. Then came the sneezing. Then constant sneezing and meowing. Took her to the vet and they confirmed it was a URI. They asked about the environment and litter when I told the vet she said to discontinue it because of how inconsistent it is. The recommendation given to me for a clumping litter was Dr. Elsey's. I'm pretty upset since this $16 pale of litter ended up costing me $300 in vet bills. I can see variations in batches but it just hasn't been the same since around November of 2025. There's silica chunks that looks like shards of glass even.

There is NO odor control. Both of the litter boxes I used this litter in started reeking like strong cat pee/ammonia within the first day of using it. I clean the cat’s boxes at least once a day and I have never smelt such a strong terrible ammonia odor coming from the litter boxes. I feel bad that my cats even have to use this litter until I can pick up a new one. Another issue to note is the insane amount of dust that comes off the litter when pouring it out of the bag, scooping, or the cats burying their business. I really liked it and never had an issue like what I have experienced with this 40lbs bag. I 100% regret purchasing this litter and hope my cats will forgive me (lol) for making them use this litter that is overly dusty, smells terrible, and doesn’t clump. But seriously, after reading a few other recent reviews about this litter, it sounds like many people are having the same issues I’ve experienced with this litter. I hope Petco sees these reviews and fixes it because I used to really like this litter and our fur babies deserve much better litter than this crap.

We’ve been using this litter for years and never had any issues until about 5-6 months ago. One of my girls started biting the hair out on her back legs, then on the back of her front legs. Got some prednisone from the vet and as soon as she was weaned off, she was right back to biting out the hair. Then we noticed she started biting out the hair on her tail, right where it would hit the litter when she squats. Now she is off the prednisone (after 4 months) but she is now on an allergy med and still having some issues, although not as bad since she takes daily allergy meds. We had to switch to a different brand of litter due to this change.

The Kitty litter seems to change colors. The lighter Kitty litter works much better than the darker Kitty litter.
