Questions
Do they work well for dachshunds? Which size would I need for a 13 lb. dachshund?
- I purchased that item when my dog was only 7 lb. She's a mini so she's not going to get much bigger than that. At 7 lb she did not fit. I tried three different sizes, return three different sizes. I couldn't get the strap around myself either. She was just miserable just even trying to get her and she was freaking out. Then I went to the side saddle bag. If you're looking for hands-free that's not going to work. As you know all small dogs like to be held for security. With the side saddle bag very flimsy. You have to hold the bag underneath. After that I went to backpacks. When she was younger she fit into almost any kind. Now that she's fully grown at 9 months she's long as you can imagine a wiener dog being. Backpacks are great you can push grocery carts go up and down stairs with groceries and bags. The problem is is you'd have to buy a large for the Dachshund to have room for the body. Those can be quite heavy. I bought one recently there for $65. I used it once I'm leaning backwards as I'm climbing up the stairs. I'm going to try to find a lighter one but an extra large or a large. I do have a stroller and I love that so much. Not just for walking around the neighborhood. My dog goes with me 24/7. So when I go to doctors offices luncheons etc she fits absolutely fine in it. Plenty of room for her toys and food. Underneath is just like a real baby carriage you can put pee pee pads water bottles pocketbook etc. So for right now I'm just holding her going up and down the stairs. Using the baby carriage / dog carriage LOL 90% of the time I can. The problem I have right now is the grocery shopping. Dogs can't be in the cart understandable.
