These bulbs must have improved greatly over the last 4-5 years since the last reviews I'm reading. These things are getting my hot side easily into the 90's and the domes are great quality. The current sale on the combo is great too!

Great Fixture
Works great even when I switched out the bulb for a 100W because I have a 40 gallon tank. It warms up my baby bearded dragon's basking spot perfectly. I'll be switching back to the 75W bulb once it starts getting warmer during the summer.

As expected- lamp and bulb
As expected- lamp and bulb. The handle on top of lamp was a plus, which allowed me to hold/move it when still hot. My lizard is happy! Warm enough to be around 80 degrees for my northern alligator lizard.

Can I put a UVB light bulb in this lamp fixture?
Would this be too much heat for my 12X12X18 tank? I have a dwarf gecko
- I would think this would be too much. I use ours on larger tank for snake that targets 90+ degrees. I use a temp control and thermometer to keep track for summer and winter. Also depends on what temp you keep your home and winter vs summer or if you run ac. I think a floor pad might be enough and mini light.

- I think you can, It says on the packaging that the lamp has uva. If you are just starting you should be able to get by using this.

Could this be used for a ball python
- You could but dont really need a double light for ball pythons. I use this for my beardie setup one side uva one uvb. For my ball python I use a ceramic heater being nocturnal they have no need of an actual light source just the heat.

Second question, what is the estimated life-span on the bulbs?
- The basking spot lamp has an average lifespan of about 2000 hours, however because it primarily functions to provide heat there are a number of things that can effect it and cause it to go out early. Zoo Med does have a three month manufacturers warranty on the bulb from the date of purchase with your receipt.

Is this a UVB and heat lamp, or just a heat lamp? I saw two questions with slightly varying answers, and would like to be sure before buying this.
- This lighting combo comes with a basking spot lamp that provides heat only, it does not provide UVB.

- The mini dome is about 5.5 inches in diameter and 7 inches tall.
