Ask your vet to have the Amitriptyline compounded into a liquid or a transdermal gel. The transdermal gel is absorbed directly into the skin so you don't have to give anything by mouth. A very safe pain medication that we prescribe regularly in cats (and dogs) is called gabapentin. It is a neuropathic pain medication but can be very effective for the treatment of mild to moderate chronic pain, such as that from arthritis or other chronic illness. It is safe on the heart and kidneys; side effects include mild sedation. I recommend asking your veterinarian if he/she can prescribe gabapentin for Buster. There is a liquid form of the medication, which is helpful in cats. I hope this is helpful - best of luck with Buster!

You will need to have flavored medications made at a special pharmacy called a compounding pharmacy. Your vet may know of a local compounding pharmacy that may make flavored medications, so I would check with them. HI, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I use clavamox all the time in cats with heart murmurs. I believe it is a safe antibiotic and does a good job for animals with urinary tract infections. my cat has blood in his urine he's coughing and he doesn't want to eat anything i've been told to give him amoxicillin, should i give him antibiotics? and what is the dosage for a 2kg cat?
He should be examined by a vet before giving any medication, especially if he is not eating. He may have an infection but a vet should look at him first to decide if Amoxicillin is the best antibiotic to use. He may also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. Please call your vet and have him examined. Your vet can check a urine sample to look for an infection or other diseases that can cause blood in the urine. Hope he feels better soon!
