Another cat has gone missing from the PetCo up the street from my house. This keeps happening. There needs to be a policy in place that states cats will not be allowed into the store for vaccines unless they're secured in a carrier. I just expressed

Unfortunately, there are no veterinary clinics located in Petco stores in your area - yet. You can get vaccinations done at Vetco vaccination clinics, as well as heartworm and flea and tick prevention. Be sure you get Tars in before he is 6 months of age, and he won't need a heartworm test. He should also be dewormed against intestinal parasites. It's great that you want to be prepared for your new kitten! Aside from the obvious things for the kitten like food and water bowls, I'd recommend a tall scratching post and perch. Two litter boxes in different areas of the house are recommended. Canned kitten food (and canned adult cat food as Myla gets older) is preferred over dry food. The Vetco clinics at PetCo don’t do neutering surgery. They do healthy pet vaccinations, deworming and can test him for feline leukemia and feline aids. They can also insert a microchip.
