This product is just a flavor enhancer and is only necessary to help get your dog to eat his normal food. It does have some nutritional properties to it and the ingredients all appear safe and appropriate to use for feeding. Just keep in mind that you are adding calories, so it should be minimally used with his normal food and you may consider cutting back his normal food a little if you are going to regularly add this to it. This product is definitely not intended to replace the food and is not nutritionally balanced like the royal canin food is. I hope that helps and all is well with Joey.

Hi there! If you want to do a home-cooked diet for Temperance, I would highly recommend using the site www.balanceit.com. It was founded by a veterinary nutritionist, and will walk you through the step-by-step process of creating a balanced diet using the ingredients you choose, including any necessary additives or supplements :)

Boiled skinless chicken breast or cooked eggs could be added as toppers - just be sure that these foods along with other treats make up less than 10% of the total diet so there aren't any nutritional deficiencies.

Hi there! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! There are a few things you can do to make his food more palatable while he gets used to it. For example, you may add low sodium chicken broth, veterinary approved gravy which you can get at your pet store or pieces of boiled chicken to it. Good luck!

Is this new that he won't eat his kibble? If so then I recommend bringing Bear to the veterinarian to have him examined. If this is not new I would try adding water to the food to see if he would like it. I would not hand feed him or just feed him piece by piece. Would he eat off of a plate? Or maybe if his bowls are not raised, raising his bowls. I would also make sure he isn't thin. So if your veterinarian said he is ideal weight as long as he is not losing I am not as concerned. They will eat when they are hungry unless something medical is going on. With you hand feeding or adding stuff he is going to wait to eat because he knows he will be getting something else. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.
