A muzzle can be used for safety and to avoid liability. A better solution would be to schedule a consultation with a certified veterinary behaviorist and/or trainer to determine the triggers then work on gradually acclimating Waffles to people and other dogs so he doesn't respond or react negatively.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Personally I love the gentle leader muzzle harnesses. It provides owners great control of their dogs. It does take a while to get the dog used to it and they still want to rub their faces on people to get them off. They do that in the exam room with me. I would gradually increase the time you have it on in the house before going on walks and give him treats or peanut butter while he has it on. That way he associates it with good things. I do think so people think it is a muzzle but more and more people know what they are. Personally if it makes your life easier I wouldn't care what some people think. I think people think more highly of the gentle leader than the prong collar. As for walking on a loose leash, it may help with that but it really depends on the dog. Some will take advantage when they know the leash is loose. The best thing to not have a dog pull is to train them to "heel," which is easier to do with the Gentle leader. I hope this he

Yes, a basket muzzle is a good idea but you should also consider working with a professional in-home dog trainer. They can probably help you train her to stop this behavior rather easily. I like BarkBusters and they have a trainer in your area. I’m pretty sure they do a free consult and the training is guaranteed for the life of the dog. No harm in calling them. I am sorry to hear about Bongo! A basket muzzle does allow for drinking but they cannot eat with it on. Try feeding him in a closed room to prevent anyone bothering him (and getting hurt). I would recommend a plastic basket muzzle instead of metal to prevent injury. Much more important, is to get Bongo on some anti-anxiety medication. This can be LIFE-CHANGING and I have so many great success stories. There are many great medications available with little side effects that are safe for daily use. My personal favorite is Trazadone but there are several great choices. Do yourself (and Bongo) a huge favor and talk to your vet about your options. Training is often needed with medication, but training alone will not work for these types of cases. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Bongo!

Hello there. I recommend using a basket muzzle for Volt so he can breathe more easily when it is on him. You can get him used to the muzzle by putting treats (like peanut butter) in the muzzle before placing it on him. Hope this helps!
