My 2 love birds seem to be bored and unhappy quite a bit, i think that they may need some toys to cheer them up? what would you prefer i do and what kind of toys would be best for them?
Some toys or changes to the environment are definitely a great way to help reduce boredom. You can look for toys that are soft or fuzzy to encourage preening and chewing behavior, or toys that can move around such as swings or bendy ladders for exercise. Treats that have to be pecked at are also great enrichment. Just be sure to choose toys that are designed for your bird's size and activity level. If you have a pair, you may also want to add in a nest or some nesting material to encourage building and give them extra enrichment.

I have a new love bird and she does not want to play with her toys why
Thanks for your question about Zinnia. I didn't see how long you have had Zinnia, but part of the reason may be that she is nervous and adjusting to her new home/environment. I am not sure what types of toys you have present, but in the picture I could see some rope material, some wood, and some fibrous types of material. These are all very appropriate toys for a lovebird. Other options may include bells (ensure they are made of stainless steel, including the clapper, as heavy metal toxicity is a concern in birds), plastic (ensure that it is sturdy, as we don't want any ingestion of foreign materials!), and you can make homemade toys as well out of tissue paper (with no dyes) and toilet paper or paper towel rolls. To make these more interesting for Zinnia, you may need to play with the toys with her - of course, this will depend on how social she is with you. You can also incorporate food in with the toys to make them more appealing - this can be done using pellets or produce items. Th

i have two parakeets and they are plucking thier feathers how do i make them stop
Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach to address your concern. Once a parakeet starts feather plucking or automutilation, you need patience and empathy. There are multiple causes of this self destructive behavior. In young parakeets I would ensure you have plenty of enrichment / toys to play and interact with. Make sure you are offering healthy food such as different fruits and vegetables as their taste stimulates the bird's senses and helps to avoid boredom as well. You can also buy toys that encourage foraging / more work to get to the treats. There is millet or oats in the hull or foraging toys. If this does not improve the behavior, I would seek a consultation with an avian veterinarian to discuss testing options to help determine if there is any systemic disease / infection that could be causing this behavior. Hi there and thanks for your post! Parakeets are creatures of habit and when you switch out their environment, it can be a bit of a mid life crisis for them! If you have mirrors in the cage right now, that actually encourage reproduction / courtship towards his reflection which can keep him up at night. I would remove any and all mirrors from the cage for now until he is used to the new cage. I would also get a new toy that is unique to this new cage you got.
