This product is just a flavor enhancer and is only necessary to help get your dog to eat his normal food. It does have some nutritional properties to it and the ingredients all appear safe and appropriate to use for feeding. Just keep in mind that you are adding calories, so it should be minimally used with his normal food and you may consider cutting back his normal food a little if you are going to regularly add this to it. This product is definitely not intended to replace the food and is not nutritionally balanced like the royal canin food is. I hope that helps and all is well with Joey.

Boiled skinless chicken breast or cooked eggs could be added as toppers - just be sure that these foods along with other treats make up less than 10% of the total diet so there aren't any nutritional deficiencies.

Hello. The food toppers are not considered complete foods & they are not nutritionally balanced. If he is eating the recommended amount of dry food for his age & weight, then you can continue with the food topper, but if not & you want to increase his nutritional intake of a balanced diet, then it is best to mix a good canned or wet food in with his dry instead of using the topper. Personally, I feel that if the topper is not nutritionally balanced, then you are feeding empty calories & the only ones who benefit from these products are the manufacturers. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Cesars and Beneful are more medium grade diets. Dogs love the taste but it's not necessarily the highest quality proteins and there's lot of fillers. The Royal Canin is a very high quality and the food I recommend to mainly feed Azumi. I recommend to feed mainly dry food but you can add in some canned food for a treat or even in every meal if you like. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi Ashlyn, Thanks for posting. Caesar is not the greatest quality dog food in the world I have to admit. You are correct. Caesars does not contain a lot of whole ingredients and is very processed. The wet food is also not the best for the teeth. Pure Vita or Orijen would be much better options, yes. And I agree, it doesn't make any sense to mix in a top shelf food like Orijen with a low quality food like Caesar. It would be like having a filet mignon alongside a McDonalds hamburger. I hope this helps! Thank you for using Boop by Petco!
