Limited ingredient diets come with one major benefit - pet parents are able to identify exactly what goes into their dog's body and avoid any specific ingredients. While a suitable diet for many dogs, LID diets can also be great for dogs with food sensitivities.

I personally don't feel Caesar is one of the best supermarket brands of food. I would try him on Purina One, which is the best of the supermarket brands in my opinion. Best sure to do the switch slowly to avoid GI upset. I hope this helps!

Hi, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I would work on weaning Cherokee off of the Cesars as soon as you can. That food is very high in fat and not a very healthy food. You don't say how old she is now. If under a year, I would suggest a puppy or growth formula. If adult, feed an adult maintenance food. Purina ProPlan, Science Diet or Iams are all very good brands. Start slowly transitioning her by mixing 75% current food and 25% new diet and switch very slowly to the new food over the course of several weeks. If she is otherwise healthy, a healthy dog is not going to starve themselves to death. But in the long run she will be much healthier on a high quality dog food. Do not give people food or table food at all either. A mix of canned and dry is fine, but it needs to be a good quality food. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=2471 Good luck.

Cesars and Beneful are more medium grade diets. Dogs love the taste but it's not necessarily the highest quality proteins and there's lot of fillers. The Royal Canin is a very high quality and the food I recommend to mainly feed Azumi. I recommend to feed mainly dry food but you can add in some canned food for a treat or even in every meal if you like. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Many spaniels have sensitive stomachs as well as skin in my experience. If Chloe is doing well on the food, with no diarrhea or upset stomach, I personally do not have a problem with it. I like a food that is within the ratios of protein to fat as you have said-with the caveat of patients that deal with things like irritable bowel or chronic pancreatitis, in which I make the fat as low as possible while still being a healthy food source for our canine companions. While you have said you aren't a fan of many commercial diets-there are types that cater specifically to sensitive stomach and food allergies from many of our large brands-and if you don't like these there are comparable brands as well that you can find at your local Petco. If Chloe is having active issues with this particular food, please let us know and we can suggest a comparable diet. I find that probiotics often work well for my sensitive GI patients as well. I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation (where you can post pictures ) if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.
