Allergy pills do not work in cats, if he suffers from seasonal allergy he might benefit from a short term steroid treatment, you will need to take him to the vet for that as steroids are prescription only.

Fighting secondary skin infections and allergies is tough. Drugs like prednisone and Apoquel are used to control inflammation. In some cases, we add a drug in an effort to taper prednisone if long term immunosuppression is needed. Ideally, long term immunosuppressives should be avoided but in some cases are needed. You should consider discussing referral to a veterinary dermatologist for intradermal skin testing.

Hello, sorry to hear about Eli. Unfortunately, anti-histamines don't work well with that time of allergy reaction. Typically, we can use a short course of steroids or a steroid injection to break the itch cycle. These may be obtain from your veterinarian through a prescription. Know that steroids in cats can cause increased anxiety and muscle loss. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Hello there! Oh my goodness- I feel your pain. Medicating cats daily can be so frustrating! Luckily, food allergies are almost never to fats! Butter shouldn't interfere with the diet trial. I would be sure to use butter that doesn't have any traces of other food in it though. Some prescriptions can be compounded into different formulas that may be easier to try as well, but I would caution that most flavors would likely interfere with the diet trial. A popular pharmacy that compounds pet medications is called Wedgewood. Some medications in capsule form are relatively unflavored, and may be easily hidden by sprinkling on top of food. Your vet can consult with one of their pharmacists over your cat's disdain for pills and hypoallergenic needs, and they may be other, easier options! I hope this is helpful! Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
