Hi. Yes Eulanuba is a very high-quality, well-studied pet food. It is well balanced, and has all the right ratios of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. It is a very well-made dog food. Highly recommend it.

I would say Joey is a large breed dog based on his mix of breeds. I recommend feeing him a high quality large breed dog food. These foods will have joint support, which is great for bigger dogs. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps!

Not only are grain free diets implicated in DCM but actual, documented grain allergies are very rare in dogs. That is all marketing hype from boutique pet food companies. I suggest you use Eukanuba large breed or Iams Proactive Adult. Choose a good quality food with a named protein source. Avoid meat meals and by products. Stay away from store or discount brands. These typically contain low quality ingredients an dmore fillers. A "large breed" formula would be recommended. Premium brands include the Royal Canin line, Acana, Canidae and Orijen. The website www.dogfoodadvisor.com is an excellent resource for comparing foods.

Euknuba is a good food but I think the brand Royal Canin is better. To the best of my knowledge, the brand has not had a recall since 2007 (which is a long time). The diet is also low residue which results in good stool quality and low quantity for most dogs who eat this diet. It is one of the more palatable diets and pets who eat this food generally have nice coats and skin. Please feel free to post any additional questions.
