My cat is 10years old, he was given famotidine 1/4 tablets but getting him to take the pills are a battle. Can I dilute the tablet in water than give him it orally?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This should be ok. The other thing that I would suggest that works great is putting them in pill pockets which you can buy from your local pet store or online. They are very palatable so they tend to like them. You could also consider using tuna or any food he really likes. Good luck and have a great day!

Hello! Per an old vet, I am giving my cat 1/4 a 10mg tab of famotidine daily. Unfortunately, it seems as though it runs out before the 24 hrs and around 3-4 in the morning, she is getting reflux (not all days, but some). Is it possible to give her
We do sometimes dose Famotodine twice daily in some patients, and normal recommended doses are 0.5 to 1.1 mg per kg of body weight every 12-d24 hours. The recommended dose/frequency can vary if the pet has underlying kidney disease, so I would recommend discussing any dosing changes with your cat's vet.

I would not recommend this - the tablets could cause irritation if given subcutaneously, or could lead to infection. I would recommend talking to your veterinarian about where to purchase injectable Pepcid (also called famotidine). Your veterinarian may be able to order a bottle for you, or may recommend trying to give the medication orally.

My vet recommended that my cat take famotidine. I thought he said to give her 10mg, but now I’m reading that she should only have 2.5-5mg. Since I have her 10mg, do I need to worry about her having serious side effects or being poisoned by it?
That does seem very high for her weight. A single dose at 10 mg is unlikely to cause any side effects. i would contact your vet tomorrow to verify the proper dose before re administering anything though

Is there any alternative to the drug Cisapride used for the condition Megacolon as it’s impossible to source in the U.K.
Ranitidine and Erythromycin have known intestinal prokinetic effects and will help with increasing gut motility. I prefer Cisapride over all other prokinetic drugs but these other 2 are a good source in the absence of Cisapride.
