Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I don't think cats or dogs need probiotics if they are healthy. I do like them for gastro-intestinal issues. I like Purina Fortiflora, you can find it online. Cats really like it. If you want to use probiotics in a healthy cat it won't hurt them. I hope this helps!

Cod liver oil contains a large proportion of vitamins and minerals which can be difficult to adjust in small dosages. A blended omega fatty acid supplement formulated specifically for cats is preferred such as viacutan, omega aid or vitacat. Other options are specialist skin diets such as hills or royal canin which are additionally supplemented with natural antiinflammatory and coat conditioning ingredients

It is very difficult to make a homemade diet for cats because they have such specific nutritional requirements. We don't have a supplement that will meet all the requirements, but if you do want to make a homemade diet, check out these two websites I'm putting below. They offer recipes for homemade diets for cats, and because they are formulated by veterinary nutritionists, you know that your cat's daily requirement will be met. Be sure to follow the recipes exactly so your cats do not suffer any deficiencies in their nutrition. Best of luck, I hope this helps! https://secure.balanceit.com https://www.petdiets.com

Due to her GI condition, I recommend to discuss any supplements or diet changes with her normal veterinarian to ensure these do not upset her condition. For pets in general, an omega 3 fatty acid supplement can help to improve coat health. There is also a diet line called Royal Canin that carries several different diet lines including diets specific for GI issues. In general this diet line contains supplements for coat health. If your veterinarian agrees, a diet change may also be beneficial. Please post any additional questions.

I would recommend the Duoxo shampoo (seborrhea if it is dry flaky skin, available online) and pet formulated fish oils from your local pet store. The shampoo will help exfoliate her follicles and the fish oil is a natural anti-inflammatory. Ask your local sales rep to point you towards what options they have as far as fish oils go. They are all pretty much equivocal. I would also consider having her thyroid levels tested and baseline bloodwork analysis done to ensure there are no underlying causes for her unhealthy appearing haircoat. Best wishes with managing The Messaiahs skin.
