This all depends on the severity and cause. If it’s very mild allergies, a shampoo like Duoxo Calm can help strengthen the skin barrier and decrease itching. (Bathe once to twice weekly during flare ups and try to leave the lather on for 5 minutes if possible.) If there is already a skin infection, hot spot, or it’s a hypersensitivity or flea/tick problem, you’ll need to visit your vet to get the proper treatment. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Aurora!

You will want to find something that has oatmeal and possibly even hydrocortisone in it. There are many brands. If you don't mind buying online duoxo calming is one of my favorite shampoos for itchy skin.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Mr. Wrinkles. I would start by bathing him with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula. Hylyt is a good option. You can do this twice per week. However, if this does not control the itching, she will need to see her veterinarian. She may require antibiotics if the skin has become infected from the scratching and medication to co trol the itching. I hope this information helps!

Allergies can be frustrating to diagnose since they can have multiple causes (inhaled, food, contact, fleas). Schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Tyson may require antibiotics. Your vet can also prescribe a short course of steroids if Tyson is itchy, then can dispense or recommend an antihistamine to prevent the itchiness from returning. Some antihistamines work better than others in different dogs, so you will need to find the one that works best. A pet approved colloidal oatmeal bath can also soothe irritated skin. Consider adding an essential fatty acid supplement (usually a fish oil) to the diet to promote healthy skin. EFAs may also decrease inflammation. Search www.petco.com for fish oil supplements or ask your vet about products such as DermCaps or EicosaCaps. Once allergies are diagnosed, your task is to try to determine what Tyson is allergic to and decrease or eliminate it. Discuss food elimination trials, hydrolyzed diets and allergy testing with your vet.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing her allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. You can try to use the anti fungal and anti bacterial shampoo though this is likely just to work temporarily. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein
