Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. While I usually use either gabapentin or tramadol, either one can be safely used with the prednisone. But tramadol can be used in conjunction with the gabapentin and a non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication ( or pred ) for chronic pain conditions. Take care.

Gabapentin is designed to be given two or three times so that is perfectly fine. Hope this answer was helpful, but please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Bella. So Gabapentin has many uses including pain relief, and when used with Galliprant, it provides even better pain control from arthritis. Using them in combination is likely why you are seeing her act more energetic than being on the Galliprant alone. Gabapentin is an unusual pain medication in that it is rarely used by itself. On its own, gabapentin is not particularly effective in preventing pain, which is why it's frequently used in combination with other drugs. I honestly can't answer why Galliprant is so much more expensive, but if this combination works, I would stick with it. I hope this helps!

Generally, we don't expect that these four-a-day medications are given exactly at six hours and it's understandable/okay to have a longer (two extra hours or so) period between pills overnight. This would mean the day ones are given closer together, which is fine for this medication. I hope that helps and Jasmine gets better soon.

If Arya ate gabapentin, the most likely side effects you would see are sedation and ataxia (difficulty walking). Luckily there have been no serious safety issues reported in cats. You could also see some GI issues like vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. I hope this helps.
