That set up looks perfect for Kitter. Thanks for including pictures. The reality is that cats sleep when we are at work, so my only concern at 14 years old is that he is able to comfortably jump up to the second level in order to access his bed. As long as he is able to make that jump easily, I think he will be very comfortable in that cage while he gets acclimated to his new home. Good luck! You should purchase a cat carrier to safely travel with Mennu. I have a link to a few examples below. It would be best to get Mennu as familiar with the carrier as possible prior to travel to help reduce stress - leave the carrier out so she can explore it. You may even want to try feeding her in the carrier. Take her for a short trip once before leaving. A pheromone spray like Feliway could help reduce stress. Charlie should be able to tolerate a very large dog style crate or a cat condo for days to a week or so. Cats often stay in similar sized cages while boarding, however be aware that cats confined will need litter changed several times daily and he would benefit from interactive toys. If possible, he may do better if allowed to be closed into a room vs a crate. Other options may be long term boarding if needed, if there is a cat facility near you with larger cages/condos available. The original is still the best. There are generic versions, however I found them unreliable. The price difference is not huge, so I suggest you invest in the original Feliway spray from CEVA. Check on line (search for ) "Compare prices for Feliway spray". You can also start leaving out the carrier with the door open, put a nice bed in it and feed her near it at first, moving the food closer and closer and finally feeding her in the carrier. This will also take some anxiety away. When driving in the car, cover the carrier, so the cat cannot look out the window, as this is really scary for a cat as she cannot understand why everything passes her by so fast.

You can try wrapping him in a thick towel first then placing him the the carrier. You can also try a non-conventional carrier, such as a large hamper with a lid wired to the top. A housecall veterinary service is also an option.
