A lot of dogs don't like the head harness to start, but over time they may become used to it. Try putting it on at home and distracting her with treats. Let her wear just the Halti not attached to the leash when you are at home and can watch her and she can get used to feeling it on her head. You could also try a gentle leader harness where the leash clips to the front of the harness by the chest. My dog has a halti and he hates it. He rubs his face on everything and he tries to get it off. I've tried different types of dog collars and I've tried training him without it but he pulls pretty bad so I dont want to take it off of him. He's had it
Confirm proper fit. This can be done by a trainer, at the store where purchased or maybe by your veterinarian. Praise and reward him consistently when he is wearing it properly. Keep him distracted and engaged to take his mind off of it. There are other halter collars, such as the Gentle Leader, that may be more comfortable for him.

I highly recommend you buy a Gentle Leader or Halti Collar to walk him. These are both head collars and when your dog pulls, lunges or jumps it will move his head back towards you which prevents him from pulling you. It will take a little bit of time for him to adjust to walking with this type of collar but it will give you a lot more control. I use one with my own dog and walking is so much nicer!

Want to buy a head halter. How long does it take to condition them to it? Longer than a prong collar(he is on one currently he now walks on a regular harness around blocks with other dog loose leash prongs only for going into dog park etc) do people
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Personally I love the gentle leader muzzle harnesses. It provides owners great control of their dogs. It does take a while to get the dog used to it and they still want to rub their faces on people to get them off. They do that in the exam room with me. I would gradually increase the time you have it on in the house before going on walks and give him treats or peanut butter while he has it on. That way he associates it with good things. I do think so people think it is a muzzle but more and more people know what they are. Personally if it makes your life easier I wouldn't care what some people think. I think people think more highly of the gentle leader than the prong collar. As for walking on a loose leash, it may help with that but it really depends on the dog. Some will take advantage when they know the leash is loose. The best thing to not have a dog pull is to train them to "heel," which is easier to do with the Gentle leader. I hope this he

I would recommend that you take Halo to a pet store, like PetCo, so you can try out different types of harnesses. There are many different styles, and the best fit will depend on many factors, including the size and shape of Halo. If you use it with a tie-out, then make sure that it can't cinch down tighter when she pulls, since that could be uncomfortable and may cause breathing issues.
