My koi fish in the dam just had babies. What food must I give them? Must I give them smaller fish pallets or must I just continue with the fish pallets that I'm currently giving them?
Koi fry can be fed daphnia, brine shrimp (live or freeze dried), krill or hard boiled eggs ( remove the yolk, blend, mix with water and pour into the tank). Feed them multiple times a day. Once they grow some, you can switch to "fry powder". This is basically finely ground koi pellets.

Thanks for reaching out about you fish. It is believed to be a Comet goldfish. Water quality and nutrition is the key to success. Testing water parameter for pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate will give you guidance for a healthy environment. Purchased food should be rotated out every 3 months as vitamin C and other nutrients degrade over time. Trying to maintain water temperature can be challenging with out a heater, but most fresh water fish tolerate some changes. Good luck.

My fish has become lethargic, barely eats, has difficulty swimming, only lays at the bottom of the pond, and has a bleeding or irritated mouth. What could this be and how can I treat it?
Thanks for reaching out about Rhino. An infection is likely, but first check water quality parameters such as pH, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. Correct any abnormalities. Infections around the mouth can be caused by multiple bacteria, but Edwardiella caused a disease called enteric red mouth. Laying on the bottom probably indicates the infection has spread to the swim bladder, causing it to fill with pus or fluid. Systemic antibiotics are needed. Antibiotics added to the water will probably do nothing. A veterinary visit is recommended to help with diagnosis and a treatment plan. Good luck.

They may be stressed from the trip, the water may be too cold (low temps can affect appetite in fish) or the water chemistry may be off. Consider a partial water change. Use only conditioned water that is temperature matched to prevent further stress or shock. The fish food is fine. They will likely eat it once conditions are corrected and they settle down.

my dog as been having dry skin and i was told he should have fish in his food for the oils. i do feed him science diet but the do not have fish. what is a better alternative to change his food to that comes in fish?
Science Diet is an excellent food but as you have noticed their over the counter foods typically don't have fish. They do have a prescription diet with fish but it can be expensive.
