We are currently residing in china. The vets here have two different ways of spaying, one the dog is kept for 4 days the other the dog goes home same day. I'm guessing they have different procedures... Which would be the right one?
I don't know much about how they spay dogs in China, but I can't say I have ever heard of a dog requiring a four day hospital stay after this procedure. Here in the USA, most dogs will either go home the same day or the day after the procedure. Although a spay is an intra-abdominal procedure were an organ is removed, they tend to wake up well and not particularly painful. Unless they are using some method in China that is far more involved, I would think that the same day method is more in line with realistic.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! The Science diet sensitive skin and stomach is quite good. I really like all the Nylabone products. I find that dogs really like them and they are fairly inexpensive. They also seem to help with cleaning the teeth a bit. Have a good day!

That's cool that the recovery suit will work for her then. The cost of crates vary by location, so I would check costs in pet stores, as well as checking online sites that resell things (like Ebay if you have that in Bosnia & Herzegovina). You may be able to buy one second hand. Yes, she can eat her regular food :-)

My dog's insulin was supposed to arrive Tuesday we ran out this morning. It's Wednesday evening and I have no insulin for her and all of the vet are closed. What can I do until UPS delivers our package?
Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do in this situation since there is no substitute for insulin. You can wait until morning and go to your nearest vet who has some insulin on hand. I would also contact your local ER vet to see if they have some insulin readily available to give to you to hold you over until Shorty gets his supply in the mail. Another alternative is to have your vet call in a prescription to your nearest pharmacy (i.e. Walgreens, CVS) to give her until her supply comes in. She may just have an extra supply of insulin on hand, but that is better than having her blood sugar too high and potentially causing further complications (i.e. ketoacidosis) depending on how much longer she has to wait. Best of luck to you and getting Shorty's insulin delivered soon! If it comes in some time tomorrow, although not ideal, she will likely be just fine. Take care.

Dry food is the most convenient food for us and also the least expensive, so that has been the most common way to feed dogs. There are a number of companies that now offer fresh food diets to various degrees. One of my favorite options is dehydrated food from The Honest Kitchen which is both convenient and good quality. In general, canned food tends to be a little higher quality than dry food. They are not limited by the restrictions that require enough carbohydrates to be put into a dry food. But feeding canned food alone can be very expensive for a large dog, so most people feed a combination of canned and dry. If you do that, make sure that Leo eats all the food at once and doesn't leave some kibble coated with canned food for later (which can be a problem for bacterial growth). I would also recommend a slow transition with any diet changes. I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
