Hydroxyzine does have bronchodilating effects. You can discuss other bronchodilators such as terbutaline, theophylline or even inhaled bronchodilators. Chest xrays can be done to check for fluid. You can also consider advanced diagnostics such as a trans tracheal wash. This procedure can collect samples for culture and pathology to diagnose infection or an inflammatory process such as asthma or bronchitis. A sensitivity panel can be done to determine the best antibiotic to use if infection is diagnosed.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Yes, this could be due to the suspected food allergy. You could consider having your veterinarian prescribe prednisolone to help decrease the itch while you get his food. That can help quite a bit. Good luck!

Thanks for visiting Boop by Petco! Not every flea product is effective, so I would still not rule out fleas if they are using a product not veterinary approved (many over the counter products are not effective). Food allergies are very rare and even rarer in cas; however you can recommend a high quality food for overall healthy haircoat and skin such as Royal Canin skin support, Royal Canin Ultamino or Evo (Innova). Oral pet formulated fish oils from your local pet store are most helpful with skin issues because they are a natural anti-inflammatory. I would recommend visiting your local vet for effective medications to calm the itch. There also may be an actual skin condition that would require specific treatment to cure. If everything checks out then a short course of allergy medication may resolve the itch. It does sound like allergies either from food or something in the environment. You can switch to a novel protein or hypoallergenic diet such as royal canine rabbit and potato or science diet D/D. The goal is to find a single carb and single protein to monitor ehat they eat. Treats also count and results take 4-8 weeks. You can also get a medicated shampoo to bathe weekly and add omega 3 fatty acids and fish oils tonthe diet to help If this does not help then you are left with medication. This can be given every day or even seasonally if needed to control symptoms. Apoquel is a good option to talk to your vet about or a stronger antihistamine such as hydroxyzine to help

Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Boop by Petco to recommend using any drug, including OTC drugs, without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your dog. I would have Lexi seen by a vet. They can let you know if an antihistamine would be helpful for her, but she may need a stronger drug like a steroid to help with her symptoms. I hope this helps!
