What does it mean when your leopard gecko hide in its hides everyday and everyday night but he does come out sometimes and moves around and eat. And is it a good or bad thing that he starts in his hides everyday and everynight.
Thanks for reaching out about Blu. It sounds as if he is being secretive or scared. Is he housed alone? Is his terrarium in a high traffic area? If yes to either of these, that situation might have to be corrected. Check environmental temperature in the whole exhibit. Good luck.

Use a background to block his view. This may prevent glass surfing or nose rubbing as well as provide more privacy/security. Again, check the temps in his enclosure to make sure it is species appropriate. Offer a variety of crickets, mealworms, dubia roaches, silkworms and wax worms. Gut load prey for 24 hours prior to offering. Dust appropriately with vitamins and minerals regularly. He may also benefit from a soak in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte. If his appetite does not return after adjustments to environment and diet, have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth.

This is not normal, as turtles are air breathers. Hiding under the substrate could be due to fear or if getting too cold. As stated prior, husbandry changes should be made in an attempt to provide better husbandry, a haul out site that is warm. Good luck.

Recheck the water and air temps with a different thermometer. Typically, the behavior you are seeing, in the absence of additional symptoms, is usually due to low temps. Check him over for obvious injury or trauma. Monitor for persistent or worsening lethargy, loss of appetite, discharge from the eyes/nose/mouth, blowing bubbles or "gaping" (holding mouth open or repeatedly opening/closing it). If necessary, have him examined by your veterinarian or by a veterinarian experienced in treating reptiles. You have an amazing habitat for your species of turtle. When he eats, make sure he doesn't ingested any of the gravel. Additionally, offer some fresh chopped greens since these turtles are omnivorous.

Choose the largest cage your space and budget will allow. At minimum, a 55 gallon enclosure should be considered. Acceptable substrates include slate, reptile carpet, decomposed granite or large gravel. Yes, setting up a bio-active environment for beardies is possible. It will take a bit of research and effort to get it right.
