Thanks for reaching out about Dwight. Do you know how cold it is getting at night? If dropping below 70, probably needs a red heat lamp or ceramic heater, neither of which should affect his diurnal cycle. Good luck.

Hi there. I have a created gecko in my sons room. We love him! I would encourage you to get a red night lamp for his cage. It helps keep the cage warm, adds some light to the room, but is a spectrum that does not interfere with his circadian rhythm. As far as the oils go, there is a lot we don’t know about exotic animals. I would not be too concerned, but I would recommend watching closely for any signs of respiratory symptoms such as breathing hard, not eating etc. Best of luck and have fun with your gecko! They are a great little pet! Thank you for using Pet Coach.

Just be sure your husbandry is 100% correct and you should have no issues. Please refer to this care sheet - just be sure everything you are doing is just right from the temperature to the humidity to the lighting to the diet. ( http://www.reptilesmagazine.com/Care-Sheets/Lizards/Leopard-Gecko/ )

Go back to basics. Check the temperature and humidity in the enclosure, make sure prey aren't too big and confirm she isn't ill or injured. This may require a physical exam with your veterinarian. Consider supplementing with Fluker's Repta-Boost, or similar product, to get additional nutrients and calories into her.

Soak once or twice weekly in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte. Feed lower protein prey (mealworms, nightcrawlers, crickets). Avoid high protein prey such as locusts, dubia roaches and waxworms. Blood work may need to be monitored to track progression. Further treatment (steroids, phosphate binders, calcium supplements, fluid therapy) will depend on status. The waxy substance may be normal secretions from the pre anal pores. This is used for marking branches and letting other geckos know who is in the area.
