Health & WellbeingMy dog is losing his hair, and some-what like flesh is appearing, please tell me he's not going to die? What do I do if I don't have the money to go to the vet?
I'm sorry that Julius is losing his hair! Please keep in mind that because I can't see him in person I can't say for certain he's not going to die, but typically hair loss does not lead to death. You could be seeing his skin underneath if he is losing lots of hair. Hair loss in dogs can be caused by fleas, mites, ringworm, or allergies. It can also be caused by a medical illness such as Cushing's disease. If he isn't up to date on his flea treatment, he will need a spot on treatment such as Advantage or Revolution. You will need to disinfect the environment as well. If he is up to date on his flea treatment, I recommend taking him into the vet for an exam today or tomorrow. The vet can do blood tests, skin scrapings, and use a Wood's lamp to diagnose Cushing's disease allergies, mites, and ringworm. Once the cause of the hair loss is found, the vet can prescribe the appropriate treatment. As for affording a vet, I can give you some resources that may help you afford a vet.
