Both are antibiotic ointments, so I would recommend sticking with the Isathal for now and scheduling another appointment if she's not feeling better after 24 hours. You can increase the frequency of the Isathal because extra lubrication can help with comfort. Another thing to ask your veterinarian about it placing a contact on her eye - not all vets have these in their offices, but if they do it can help a lot with comfort. Good luck to you and Jasmine. I hope she's feeling much better soon!

Etofenprox is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, and cats are quiet sensitive to pyrethroids. I do not recommend using pyrethroid medications to my clients due to the risk for toxicity. The dog product may have a higher concentration and be more likely to cause toxicity. Affected cats will have involuntary muscle tremors or seizure activity. You could bathe both cats with Dawn dish soap to remove any remaining topical medication and contact a veterinarian immediately if you see any signs. You could also call Animal Poison Control for more information (they do charge a fee for the service): https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control

Ask your veterinarian to write a prescription for the generic form of Buprenex which is buprenorphine. Contact local pharmacies in big stores (WalMart Target, Costco, etc) that may offer more affordable pricing. Other options include Wedgewood Pharmacy ( https://www.wedgewoodpharmacy.com/ ) or Diamondback Drugs ( http://www.diamondbackdrugs.com/ ). These are compounding pharmacies. Discuss other options with your veterinarian. He or she may have a preferred vendor or different options than the ones above.

Tacrolimus is an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive drug that works to stimulate Panda's tear glands and prevent further destruction of tissue in dogs with dry eye. The OTC drops will only prevent drying and do nothing to treat the underlying cause. It would be best to discuss alternative treatments that may be more affordable with your vet or veterinary ophthalmologist before switching any medications.

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! I'm sorry that Jolly is not feeling well. There is no difference in the active ingredient, an antibiotic, between Velosef syrup vs capsules/tablets. Slight differences in the way the compound is dissolved may be present, but the activity is the same. Most veterinarians prescribe medications based on the animal's weight, so the total dose (total milligrams) needs to be the same no matter the form of the medication. I recommend asking your vet what the total amount of medication is per dose, and ensuring that the same amount is present in either the capsules, tablets, or syrup. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have!
