Ideally, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian, at the nearest veterinary ER or by a vet experienced in treating reptiles. If this is not possible, get her under a heat lamp to start warming her up. You can also soak her in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte for 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, clean the tail stump with a diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution. Dab a bit of triple antibiotic ointment on it after each cleaning. Clean it gently once daily and dry thoroughly afterwards. Keep her on paper towels and change it daily. Pick up some Fluker's Repta Boost and use that to feed her initially. When she is more active, you can introduce prey slowly. She may eventually regrow her tail. Even with care, she may not recover. I have just got a leopard gecko and i have settle it into its enclosure. What advice would you give for the on going care of the gecko?
Leopard Geckos are phenomenal reptile pets and are generally very easy to care for. The most important factor in caring for any reptile is making sure their home is appropriate for their specific needs. Leopard Geckos like hot environments with low humidity. A basking lamp should be on one side of the tank and an under the tank heater is also recommended. Their diets are comprised of insects, so they should be fed gut-loaded crickets, mealworms, and superworms. Their habitats should be cleaned weekly and fresh water can be offered daily. They should not be misted. Otherwise, they are very hardy creatures and a lot of fun to take care of. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions. If you wish, feel free to start a consultation.

hello, my name is Becca I have a leopard gecko I got him from PetSmart on November 2nd 2018 lately he's been licking under his butt and when I look their are two little holes with white stuff coming out is that normal?
Hello Becca. Great question! I suspect he has seminal plugs. It would be best if you could take him to a reptile vet for an exam as I'm only guessing as to what the problem may be but I'm fairly confident this is the issue. Sometimes you can call a local exotics shop and the staff there may be able to help you get the plugs out. I don't think the Petsmart staff is trained well enough to help you with this so I don't recommend you take him there. These two exotic vets are within about 20 minutes of your zip code. It does appear to be of the takydromus species. These grass lizards are common and fairly easy to keep. Being adept climbers, more vertical space should be offered in an enclosure. Branches and vines can be placed for climbing. Bring reptiles, they need an external heat source and UVB lighting. Daytime temps can range from 24 C to 30 C (75-85 F). Provide a basking spot of around 35 C to 38 C (95-100 F) using a heat lamp. Aim for 70-80% humidity. Provide a shallow bowl for water. Mist the cage daily. Feed appropriately sized prey, no bigger than the space between the eyes, that have been gutload for 24 hours prior to offering. This will maximize nutritional value. Crickets, mealworms, dubia roaches, waxworms or wingless fruit flies can all be offered. Dust prey with a calcium supplement and a multivitamin supplement several times weekly. Ideally, the wound should be addressed by a veterinarian experienced in treating reptiles. You can clean it with dilute Betadine or chlorhexidine

Most species of geckos, being nocturnal, do not require UVB lighting. Being cold blooded though, they do need a heat source. Your body temp will not be sufficient for good health. Replace the light/heat source with an appropriate bulb. You can easily buy one online or at most pet stores. Low temps will stress him which can lead to illness. Low temps also affect appetite activity and digestion. Sexing geckos is fairly easy. An adult male will have a bulge behind the vent that is very noticeable. You will also see a row of femoral pores shaped like a "V" in front of the vent in male geckos. Since he is going into a shed, provide a moist hide in the enclosure and/or increase the humidity temporarily. These two species look similar but there are differences. To help with identification, closely exam your gecko. Leos will lose their bands and develop spots, hence the name, as they mature. They also get much bigger than banded geckos.
