There are many alternatives to Deramaxx , not human ones though and they all cost more or less the same. to get a better price ask your vet for a prescription and buy it online, the price difference, it can sometimes be up to 3 times cheaper this way.

Metacam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication that will relieve pain and inflammation. It could take a week or so before she is all the way better. If she isn't improving than she should be rechecked by your vet for additional diagnostics. Your vet can take an x-ray to look for abnormalities.

Your vet should be able to write you a prescription for 30 tablets with a certain amount of refills so you don't need a prescription every month. Usually the refills should be 6-12 months depending on when your vet wants to do a recheck and test some blood-work. I am not sure of the laws in the UK but in the US a vet has to provide a written prescription and a client can have it filled online or at a human pharmacy if the product is available. You could call some other vets in your area and ask about their policy and then change vets if it works out better.

It is OK that you gave it 2 hours early but I personally don't recommend multiple days of Metacam administration in cats. I suggest you stop giving it at this point unless she seems painful. After a week she should not be.

No, it's very dangerous to give an NSAID like Metacam at the same time as a steroid - so I would definitely NOT do this. If you think Romy is painful, I would contact your veterinarian to ask about a different pain medication such as tramadol or gabapentin, which can safely be given with steroids.
