Thanks for reaching out about Bacon. Systemic antibiotics could be helpful. Keep the wound clean. Offer small amounts of food and water, at frequent intervals as to not over-extend the crop. Good luck.

If the skin is broken and bleeding, Lemon Drop is at risk for infection. Even if you have no local avian veterinarian, a small animal vet should be able to treat her. A specialist can be consulted online or by phone. The antibiotics and medications used are similar, just the dose is much smaller. A small e-collar (cone) may need to be fashioned to prevent her from plucking. In the meantime, lean and sanitize the cage, bowls, toys and perches. Discard anything that cannot be sanitized. Use paper towels on the cage bottom and change them daily to keep the cage clean. Provide a variety of toys and treats to keep her distracted from picking. Bathe or mist her with warm water a few times a week to promote preening and healthy skin and plumage.

Thanks for sending the picture. i would not worry about wrapping the wing, but I would follow up with a veterinarian soon. Trauma to the wing is repaired better earlier than later. Make sure your pet bird is still eating well. Good luck.

It would be best to contact the vet clinic Edgard was treated at to see if they have another on-call vet while your current one is away. They can check to see if the wing is fully healed before messing with the bandage in case it needs to be in place for longer, or in case it needs to be changed out with a fresh one. If the bandage is very dirty or smelly, bringing Edgard in sooner (even if it's to another vet on call) is best to make sure the area gets cleaned and any infection cared for.

I am very concerned based on what you were describing that your bird is very ill. I would recommend trying to hand feed her or syringe feed her a critical care supplement to try and get her appetite back where it needs to be. Unfortunately, without an examination by a veterinarian there are no over-the-counter remedies that I can recommend that I can be sure will be safe for your bird. Try to interact with her as much as possible and encourage her to eat. Also make sure she is in a warm dry room and see if that helps. If she still refusing to eat or drink after a few days it would be in her best interest to seek out a vet that can examine her. I’m sorry you are going through this with your bird. Best of luck. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
