Because fleas are so problematic, flea prevention is essential! Commonly prescribed preventives include oral and topical medications—although injectable flea prevention is available, as well.

1. You don't need to do anything about the litter box 2. You can give them a Capstar and then the next day you can apply a topical flea medication like Advantage II. 3. You need to treat all animals in the house with a flea medication 4. You need to treat the house. I recommend Knockout Spray ES (see below) 5. You do not need to bathe the cats. It is actually better if you don't. 6. If you have a yard, I would treat the yard with Advantage Yard Spray (see below) 7. Monitor the cats for tapeworms. Cats get tapeworms by ingesting infected fleas. It may be a few weeks before you see them, if you are going to see them. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! In my opinion, the best two flea and tick preventative medications are Bravecto and Frontline plus. Any of those would be good options for him. Good luck and have a good night!

If it is available, my best topical flea treatment for cats is Cheristin. It is very effective and kills fleas before they bite, which is helpful for cats with flea allergies since it is the bite they react to. Comfortis is a tablet that is also very effective, but it can cause vomiting.

If Mischief is crawling with fleas I recommend resolving that issue and working on environmental clean up over the next 2 months first. Capstar is generally available over the counter and works to kill fleas within 30 min. In addition Mischief should be on a monthly flea preventative such as Revolution which works better than many over the counter products. It is important to keep Mischief on a monthly preventative year round or at least for the next 3-4 months to break the flea life cycle and the fleas on her now are laying eggs that may hatch next month and re-infect her if she is not continuously protected. It is important as well to vacuum the home daily/launder any sheets/bedding etc. that she may have come in contact with as flea eggs can be laid/dropped all over the home and re-infect her after they hatch. Food allergies are less common in cats than dogs, I would say that if she has fleas on her now, the primary issue is fleas and you can address possibly changing her diet after

Over the counter Hartz and Sentry products do not work. I suggest you get prescription strength flea medications. You can easily get these medications from one of our VETCO clinics inside Petco stores. Here are the ones in your area: ( https://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/clinic-locations-and-schedules/?zip=77081 ) Take the cats with you. It is first come, first serve and there is no exam fee so just the cost of the products. The vet there can advise you when you can give the new product based on when you applied the other product. You also need to treat your house and yard (if you have one for fleas). I suggest these products: ( https://www.allivet.com/p-1389-knockout-es-area-treatment.aspx ) ( https://www.allivet.com/p-9065-vet-kem-yard-spray-32-oz.aspx?SearchTerm=yard%20spray+Auto ) Hope this helps. Best wishes.
