The diabetes will require twice daily insulin injections. A proper diet can help decrease the insulin dose needed to control it but it is not enough to stop it all together. There are a lot of good anti inflammatory prescription products that are safe for diabetics that your vet can prescribe. A good natural option is adding glucosamine and chondrotin supplements such as cosequin or see if your vet has a therapy laser that can help

You can find this product at any of the online veterinary pharmacies. In order to find the best value I would recommend going on goodrx.com. On this website you will be able to type in the medication and dose and it will provide you with coupon codes and the location of where you need to obtain the product. Regardless of what site you use you will still need to obtain a prescription from your veterinarian. I always caution my clients when they are planning to purchase these types of products from pharmacies of unknown origin as we cannot be certain how the drugs are being stored and what source they are obtaining the drugs from. Do your due diligence before deciding on which place to use. I have had relatively good experiences with Valley Vet Supply.

The best things for diabetic dogs to eat are food items low in carbohydrates. Aim for food with higher protein and fat. As far as insulting goes, anywhere under the skin is okay but I aim for a loose area of skin such as between the shoulders. Most importantly, if the dog doesn't eat, don't give the insulin . Hope that helps

If you have proof that the dogs have a current negative heartworm test (current means a test within the last year) then you can get the product at any one of our VETCO vaccination clinics. If you do not have proof of a negative heartworm test, you can get the test done at the clinic and then you can buy the Interceptor (or any type of heartworm prevention). Most regulated diabetics hang around 200 for their glucose and the weight should be stable. he needs a glucose curve with a urine test to check for ketones and have his dose adjusted. He also should be checked for concurrent diseases that can lead to insulin resistance such as hypothyroid, Cushings or an infection. From there, there is another type of insulin that some regulate better on and it may be worth looking into Vetsulin. A diet change to a diabetic friendly one can also help regulate diabetes. It is frustrating but you do have a lot more options worth pursuing
