When the website referes to giving rats rawhide chews and nylabones, is it referring to what people give their dogs? I was warned to avoid these things with dogs, so I'm wondering how it is safe for my rats? Also, I have a boxer who loves bones, but
I have never heard of giving rats nylabones but a rat will chew on anything. I would likely advise to stick to toys/chew objects meant for rats. As far as it goes for toys for your boxer, stick to soft toys or rubber toys. I would not get anything with hard components as I would not want to damage her gums or remaining teeth (if she has any?). Nylabone does make softer toys but these break apart easier if she has any teeth to chew them. Kong products are good options too. I hope this helps!

My 30ish pound 8ishMO month old pit just swallowed an entire nylabone for med dogs. We don't have a 24/7 pet er, and we don't have any money to put down for service. What can we do? At least until Monday when the vet is open again.
You will have to keep an eye on Toby. Do NOT make him vomit, the bone could get stuck in his esophagus. The problem with the bone is that is could cause a foreign body obstruction. Signs of that include vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, lethargy, and a complete absence of pooping. If you see any of those signs, you will need to take him into a vet immediately. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Have a few toys at home but only give 1-2 at a time. Change it out every day for a different set to prevent boredom. You can try kongs or the type of toys that are puzzles and release food every time they figure it out. Instead of bones, invest into water buffalo horns or elk antlers, they are much more durable

I never recommend antlers because they do break teeth, and rawhides pose a chocking and intestinal blockage risk. Bully sticks are fine as long as you watch your dog when he eats it, and the Nylabone Petsafe Wood Chew is fine too. I hope this helps!
