Thank you for submitting your question and congratulations on your first dog! Treats should not comprise more than 10% of the diet. They should be given in small amounts. If you are giving Milk Bones, by the tiny size and only give several a day. Most dogs in this country are overweight. Being strict with his diet from the start with help to prevent this from occurring with him. As far as the best chew, it is based on the individual dog. The chew needs to be something he enjoys, but more importantly something he cannot break pieces off and swallow. This can become a surgery to remove. I hope this information helps!

Yes absolutely! I highly recommend the Virbac dental chews that are almost half the price as the Oravet, and they really do work! I use these on my own pets. Also remember though that it is still best to brush your pets teeth as this is considerd to be superior to any dental chew or treat you can buy. :Twice a week brushing is better than nothing! : ) Check out the link below and best wishes with your pet Bella! https://www.amazon.com/Enzymatic-Hygiene-Chews-Medium-Virbac/dp/B01AS4X4IC/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1528125380&sr=8-6&keywords=virbac+dental+chews+for+dogs Please let me know if this was helpful! Take care. : )

Hello and thanks for using Boop by Petco! It is not the best idea to give Olie sweet food. Eating too much sugar and carbohydrates can lead to problems with obesity in dogs, just like in people. It is better to stick with healthier treats - you may want to try offering Olie a piece of carrot or small piece of sweet potato instead of sweets.

I like Missing Link Original. If your local Petco does not carry it you can order it online or ask you local store manager to order it for you. ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/brand/the-missing-link ) Hope this helps. Best wishes.

The key to doing treats while a dog is on an elimination diet is to use treats that have the same ingredients as the food you are trying. Sometimes the easiest way to do this is to use canned food of the variety and flavor that you are using to put in a Kong or bake into treats. Other options would be to use sweet potato chews if the food you are feeding has sweet potatoes in it (which Zignature kangaroo does not) or giving dehydrated chews that are the same meat source that you are feeding (which will be a challenge for a kangaroo food). So, for the food you are feeding right now, the best option may be to use canned Zignature kangaroo to create treats for Lucy. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
