Hello. Otomax is a broad spectrum medication the contains an antibiotic, antifungal as well as a steroid. It is possible that the steroid is preventing the lesion from healing. I would talk to your vet about this & switching to another antibiotic such as silver sulfadiazine. If it still does not heal, the lesion may need to be cultured or biopsied to identify why it is not healing. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Oh no, poor Oscar! Unfortunately ear infections can be very hard to treat, and I would recommend having a culture done on his ear. That will tell the vet what bacteria are present in his ear causing the infection, and then can pick an antibiotic to treat. Some dogs are prone to chronic ear infections, and if this continues to be a problem, there is a solution to keep Oscar from ever getting another ear infection. It's a surgery called a total ear canal ablation and bulla osteotomy (TECALBO). While it will cure ear infection forever, it will leave him deaf in that ear. It would be a last resort surgery, but it is something to consider if you keep having problems with ear infections.

The main reason infections do not clear is they are not treated for long enough or it may have not been the best medicine to treat it due to resistance. Ideally she needs to be rechecked to see if a culture is needed or oral medicine help. You can try to get an ear cleaner to help keep it clean. IF the ear persistently itch then you may want to consider a food allergy

IT's not recommended to use prescription human ear drops on dogs as their ear infections are very different than ours, for example most ear infections in dogs are caused by yeast while in humans it is extremely rare thus this ear drop does not contain any anti yeast medication and will in most cases be useless when used on a dog.

Mometamax is for the ears. If your do has an allergic dermatitis then he may need an oral antibiotic, anti-histamine, corticosteroid, and/or other medications to help clear up the skin issue. You could also bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps his skin.
