Hello! I'm looking to add some additional fish to my 36 gallon reef tank. So far, I have an orange firefish, 2 ocellaris clowns, a fire shrimp, a peppermint shrimp, and 4 blue legged hermit crabs. Do you have any recommendations other than damsels?
I would suggest either a Neon Goby, Yellowline Goby or Sharknose Goby (Elactinus spp.), Court Jester Goby (Koumansetta rainfordi) also make wonderful additions, A Small Basslet of the genus Liopropoma spp. or a Royal Gramma also should work well with your existing tankmates, and lastly another great group of fishes include Shrimp Goby of the genus Stonogobiops or Amblyeleotris. For shrimp goby, one bonded pair with their commensal snapping shrimp of the genus Alpheus makes a fascinating addition to smaller marine reef aquaria.

The experts here on the forum at Boop by Petco do not work at Petco stores and I don't think anyone would have knowledge of inventory at local stores. I cannot find this particular product on the Petco website. It's possible that it's available at your local store and you could try giving them a call. I am a beginner and I was planning on getting purchasing a 20 gallon tank. I wanted a Tang, a Clownfish, a Chromis a some guppies, would the size tank be to small?
The Tang, Clownfish, and Chromis are marine fish requiring a saltwater aquarium while guppies are freshwater fish. These fish are not compatible as they require two completely different setups to accommodate their different environmental needs. If you are going to set up a marine aquarium - a 20 gallon aquarium is too small for the fish you have listed. A small Percula Clownfish maybe suitable in a 20 gallon aquarium temporarily, but be prepared to upgrade to a larger aquarium as it grows larger. In general, 50+ gallon aquariums are recommended to properly house marine fish as they tend to grow large and require plenty of room to swim. If you are planning to set up a freshwater aquarium, a 20 gallon setup is adequate to house guppies.

The Cowfish, or Longhorned Boxfish, is a marine species that should be kept only by experienced aquarists. When stressed, they can release toxins into the water which may harm tank mates. Pacman frogs, leopard geckos, corn snakes or bearded dragons are all easy to keep.

How old do you have to be to buy a pet at Petco?
Customers under the age of 18 cannot purchase live Companion Animals or Aquatic Life without a parent or guardian present. (Excluding crickets and worms). Due to the demands of time and intricate care required with certain species, it is in the best interest of the animals to not sell to minors. Parental permission at time of sale will ensure a better home for the animal and lower our rate of return.
