Glad to hear you decided to get yourself a kitty! Some cats take longer to get used to their owners than others. It is great that she gets along with dogs, as so many cats and dogs are not able to functionally coexist. The best think you can do is just give Crystal some time and let her come to you. Any time she comes to you, take it very slowly and offer her love and treats. Cats respond similarly to positive reinforcement as dogs, but has to be done with a little more finesse. In terms of the food, any type of food labeled for cats is OK, with some brands being of higher quality than others. By six months of age, you should be able to feed regular adult cat food instead of kitten food. If you are thinking of letting your cat outside, I would make sure that she is fully vaccinated against FeLV in addition to the FVRCP combo and Rabies. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It is difficult to change a cat’s eating preferences; there are a couple of options to try, however. There are automatic feeders that are triggered to be open by a specific tag on the collar; this way, Mina could come and go as she pleases and only her collar would open the feeder. Another option, if she likes wet food, is to feed her a larger portion of wet food that she will eat right away. If these options don’t work, I would recommend reaching out to your regular veterinarian for more options. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I would set all her belongings in to the room you are staying in. Give her a day to adjust to that room. Then open the door and allow her to come out of the room if she wants. If she is a shy cat she may never leave the room if you are only there for a few days. I would hope that after 1-2 days she will venture out. By keeping all her things in one room she will know that is her safe place to run back to if scared. Cats are hard and it depends on her overall personality.I would just be patient and don't force her to do more than she wants. I wish you the best of luck!

Yes, they can. Cats are quite independent and can look after themselves quite well. Access to an outdoor space would be ideal. If you have enough space taking two cats (take them when they are kittens) could be a good option.
