Hey do y'all know the best type of dog house for an outdoor dog so they can stay warm or put some hay or cedar chips in there to also help with fleas?
There are many things to consider for keeping an outdoor dog comfortable. Any type of shelter will do as long as it provides enough room (for the dog to stand up and turn around), protects the dog from the weather (good roof and sound walls) and the door is situated such that the prevailing winds do not blow right in. Straw bedding is helpful during the cold weather to help the dog maintain some heat in the house. Fleas are better controlled with medications such as Frontline, Seresto collar, NexGard, and many others. If your dog is a short-haired dog, pay close attention during the cold months to make sure he is able to keep warm. There are also coats for dogs that can help! Thank you for using pet coach.

I have a lab mix (about 2 years old) and I live on a dead-end street on 4 acres. I want her to stay in the yard, but sometimes she visits neighbors for hours at a time and there are a couple of dogs that come through and she will roam with them. I
I think an underground fence or an electric fence that has a home base (see link below) might be the best solution. Petsafe is a good company who makes these products. It shouldn’t scare her further away but it should keep her inside the boundaries. I would keep the level on low to keep her from becoming scared to go in the yard. This is the safest thing to prevent her from getting out and either getting lost or injured. There is also a GPS tracking device for the collar called whistle that you can use to keep up with her if she still gets out. I have changed Buddy's play pen twice because he jumps out if them. I step out for approximately an hour leaving him in his playpen with his pee pad, his bed, a blanket, his favorite toy, and he still jumps out. I make sure all doors are closed, and
It sounds like Buddy needs a kennel or a playpen with a top on it unfortunately. Now that he has figured out he can jump out he is likely to continue this behavior because it is rewarding to him. My own puppy discovered he could climb his play pen at a young age! I purchased some thick plastic garden fencing and used it to put a "roof" on his playpen to prevent this. Another option would be a large crate if you want a bigger area for him to play in. They also make very tall playpens for larger dogs, but be sure that Buddy isn't actually climbing the side of the pen before you get one of these!

If that doesn't work or isn't possible I think it is fine and not cruel to crate him at night. He should be sleeping anyway and it will also keep HIM and your stuff safe. Good luck!
