What are some affordable high quality dog boots you would recommend for good foot protection? Im trying to find foot protection that won't annoy my dog. Thanks
Ruffwear is generally considered one of the best apparel companies for pets. Otherwise it is all highly variable. I recommend to look at product recommendations online. Any boot is liable to cause annoyance to a pet since they are not use to wearing them. Petsmart and Petco both tend to carry products that work well and are durable. Nikki is adorable! Thanks for including pictures! Yes, PetSmile is expensive, but it is one of the only toothpastes to actually be approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council. Here is a list of their approved products. http://www.vohc.org/VOHCAcceptedProductsTable_Dogs.pdf PetSmile is what I use with my dogs. (Last year they ran a 25% off sale before Christmas, so I stocked up!) Yes, it is fine to use Dawn on Nikki's feet daily, but I suspect any gentle cleaner would be fine as well. You may have to experiment to find the best shampoo for her. I have been very pleased with EarthBath products, so you might want to try their Oatmeal and Aloe shampoo for itch relief. https://earthbath.com/product/oatmeal-aloe-shampoo/ There are also prescription itch relief shampoo and conditioner products if needed that you can talk to your vet about. Kong toys that you can fill with peanut butter work great and you can find the kong toys online or at your local pet store. You can also try NaturVet Quiet Moments calm chews with melatonin which can also be found online or at your local PetCo. I hope this helps! How do I take care of my pets paws during the winter/snowy days ?
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Great question. There are many ice melt products that are safe for pets. Non-toxic and non-irritating. You can also buy booties for Wolverine which would protect his paws while he is outside. Some dogs won't wear these so it's going to be a trial and error. Also, you can rinse and wipe his paws off after he goes outside to remove any ice melt that he stepped on and remove any snow that is stuck to his paws or hair coat. Again, great question. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! It isn't a perfectly accurate chart. It is a good guideline though and likely depends on the dogs tolerance (getting used to prolonged cold weather), breed (arctic breeds) and how long haired the pet is. Also wind chills would have to come in to play. I think for the layperson that have dogs that are not conditioned to extremely cold weather can be helpful. But I agree it leaves out a lot of important factors. In some ways it is better to be safe than sorry! I hope this helps!
