Posatex is a topical medication for ear infections, and as such it should not be ingested. However, if your dog licked a small amount, the side effects should not be too severe. We can see some GI upset, increased thirst and urination, and possibly adrenal gland suppression. To be extra safe, I'd recommend having your vet check her electrolyte levels in the morning.

It does sound like allergies. I would not use the Posatex unless your vet confirms an active infection. Doing this can create an environment where antibiotic-resistant bacteria can develop, which can make treatment really difficult. You can use an ear cleaner and try an antihistamine like Claritin or Zyrtec.

Hello. Otomax is a broad spectrum medication the contains an antibiotic, antifungal as well as a steroid. It is possible that the steroid is preventing the lesion from healing. I would talk to your vet about this & switching to another antibiotic such as silver sulfadiazine. If it still does not heal, the lesion may need to be cultured or biopsied to identify why it is not healing. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! Most ear ointments are a little oily or thick in order to stay in contact with the skin inside the ear canal as long as possible, so it is absolutely normal to feel the ointment in the ear later on. I usually recommend a cleaning solution along with ointment, and you can ask your vet if there is a cleaning solution that they recommend to use to clear out the remaining ointment before applying the next dose. I also would get an E-collar (or "cone") for Norman to prevent him from scratching his ear so that he doesn't cause any additional trauma. You should definitely continue to ointment to continue treating the infection, stopping could make the infection worse and more difficult to treat in the future.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is likely due to an ear infection. I recommend that you have Tocket evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Your veterinarian would be able to check what type of infection is present and treat accordingly. Usually this resolves with topical therapy. Good luck and have a good night!
