Hello. Unfortunately, the over the counter urinary diets just do not match up to the prescription ones. You may need to try Mischief on another brand, like Royal Canin to see if he will accept this one. There are also different versions of the C/D that he might accept better, but if & when you go to switch, just be sure to take your time. This will help Mischief to accept the foods, better. One trick I like to use is to take a glass jar & add enough dry kibble so there is 75% old & 25% new food. Put the lid on & let this sit for a day or two to let the smells & flavors blend. Every week, decrease the old food & increase the new, & hopefully he will find this acceptable. Hope this helps & thanks for contacting Boop by Petco.

Sorry to hear about Daenerys. I would recommend trying a different food manufacturer such as Royal Canin or Purina. Both have hypoallergenic and hydrolyzed diets (that aren't made with chicken) that she may prefer. In my experience I have found z/d to not be very palatable to cats but have better success with one of the other brands. There are homemade diets, however these can be difficult to formulate due to all the vitamins and minerals that are required by your cat's diet. Talk to your veterinarian about switching to RC or Purina and that should hopefully help the issue.

If you are buying the prescription diet directly from your vet I would recommend looking at an online pet pharmacy to see if they carry the food. Often times these places can offer bulk discounts to purchasing cans and may also have a lower price available than your vet can offer. Your vet can send in the prescription for you so that you can then purchases there. Some other brands such as Royal Canin, Eukanuba and Pro Plan also offer prescription urinary diets so if Science Diet is too expensive, you may want to price shop and see if the other prescriptions available would work.

Hi, cats with pancreatitis can eat a prescription diet that vets carry. There are a few brands, There is Hill's ID or Purina EN. These can be purchased from your vet in canned and dry formula. They are very bland low fat diets. I would call your vet to see which they carry and get some of that to help your kitty. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Prescription kidney diets have proven to improve both quality and length of life in pets with poor kidney function. They are formulated to reduce the amount of work required for the kidneys by reducing the amount of waste products produced from food as well as containing tightly balanced mineral, vitamin, omega fatty acid and protein levels and work best in wet forms or where good water intake can be encouraged. The larger proportion of the diet the better, any additional food sources should be highly digestible and suitable for pets in kidney failure, blood tests would be recommended 3-4 weeks after any diet changes to ensure no negative impacts develop
