Profender is absorbed rapidly through the skin into the bloodstream and ultimately reaches the gastrointestinal tract where it is effective in killing susceptible parasites (roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms). Profender will kill susceptible parasites that are present in the intestine at the time of treatment. Cats should receive treatments every 3 months and kittens should receive treatment at 8 and 12 weeks and every 3 months thereafter to prevent future infestations. Reinfection can occur from the environment and contact with other infected pets. She may not vomit any worms or pass them out of the stools. It depends what stage of the life cycle the worms are in and which species of worm you are referring to. If you don't see any worms it does not mean it is not working. Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions feel free to post again.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Yes dewormers can be purchased online. I’d deworm every 6 months if the cats go outside. See the link below on the kind I like. I recommend the FVRCP vaccine as well as the rabies. If Kitty never received this vaccine then he needs two 3-4 weeks apart. The 2nd is good for 1 year the all subsequent are good for 3 years. Have a good day! https://m.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3464 https://m.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=1268

Hello, and thank you for using Boop by Petco. In this case, if follow-up fecal testing isn't possible/practical, I recommend repeating the treatment 2 weeks later. However, I would encourage you to call your primary vet and talk about your options. If your outdoor cats have tapeworms, they very likely have roundworms and/or hookworms as well, so ideally the cats should be treated with something a bit more broad-spectrum. You're right that vets certainly prefer doing an exam on each animal prior to dispensing medication (we are legally required to have a "doctor/patient relationship" to dispense medication).....but depending on your relationship with your vet, some vets may make exceptions when it comes to deworming outdoor/feral cats. It's worth asking what they recommend in this case! Hope this helps - it's great that you're caring for these outdoor cats!
