Bandit won’t leave the Christmas tree alone and the other animals do, it’s a live tree will it harm him? I don’t want him to get sick or worse. What can I do?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! The tree itself will not harm him, nor will drinking the water. The only thing that possibly could harm him if he eats ornaments, ornament hooks, pine needles or tinsel. That can cause an stomach or intestinal obstruction. You can use a motion detector noise deterrent near the tree that goes off as he approaches it that scares him away. You can confine him when you are not home and use a water bottle to squirt him when he is out. Overall Christmas trees and cats are commonly an issue. The safety of flying with pets varies widely depending on an individual pet’s temperament, anxiety level and underlying health issues, as well as the duration of the flight and temperature both at the destination and departure location. Generally speaking, most pets do not make the best travel companions while flying, as they can become very anxious with the hustle and bustle of the terminal, loud noises on the airplane and handling during security checkpoints. Anxious pets are more likely to become destructive, vocal or have accidents. Larger pets need to travel in crates in the baggage compartment of the plane, where they are unsupervised and may be exposed to extreme temperatures for potentially prolonged periods of time while waiting to be loaded or unloaded from the plane. In addition, most airlines require a veterinarian to sign off on the health of the pet before they can fly in cargo. My winter white dwarf’s, Pusheen’s, left eye is shut. I don’t think he can see out of it. His other eye is on the verge of closing. He’s limping really badly and he’ll stop at random times, probably because he forgot what he was doing, or got tired.
It looks like Pusheen has crusting around both of the eyes, with potential discharge. Discharge from the eyes that is this excessive is not normal, and I would recommend that you take Pusheen to a veterinarian, especially with the other signs that you are noticing. A veterinarian can evaluate Pusheen and ensure that there isn't something serious going on with the limping that you are seeing (such as a broken bone), and may determine that he needs some pain medications. They can also evaluate the eyes, and may prescribe a medication for them to make him feel better (such as an antibiotic drop or ointment). At home, to keep the eyes open, you can use a warm, moist cloth to wipe the eyelids and remove the discharge. If there is an infection, however, cleaning may not clear it by itself. I hope that this gives you a place to start, and I hope Pusheen feels better soon!
